Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS)
Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) is a personalized care plan developed by your Legent surgeon and anesthesiology team. Once your surgery is scheduled, your surgeon will inform you if this care plan applies and provide specific instructions. ERAS may differ from other surgeries you've experienced in some keyways. This care plan also encourages the use of non-narcotic pain medication and anti-nausea medications before surgery in pre-op to manage pain, reduce the need for narcotics afterwards, prevent nausea and vomiting, and overall result in a more comfortable outcome post-surgery. For more general information about ERAS, please refer to the patient information documented below.
If your surgery falls under these guidelines and your surgeon opts for the ERAS care plan, please review this information to help prepare for your procedure:
- Spine and Neck Surgery
- Orthopedic Surgery
- Hand and Wrist Surgery
- Pain Injections and Pain Surgery Procedures
- ENT Surgery
- Colonoscopy/EGD Procedures
